RAC funding received, grant supports Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub

Last month, DCPSS received word from the Oregon Education Investment Board that our Regional Achievement Collaborative would again receive funding. We will receive $42,000 to support the infrastructure and staffing of DCPSS. The grant dollars makeup the bakcbone of the STEAM Hub and allow our organization to continue increasing our capacity to make work happen.

Remind me, what's a RAC?

From OEIB's RAC website: "The OEIB developed the Regional Achievement Collaborative pilot to fund and study 12 regional partnerships that are focused on improving outcomes by aligning and leveraging the efforts, time and energy of many. The RAC project represents OEIB’s deep commitment to the idea that it is only by empowering those closest to the ground – removing barriers and leaving space for local innovation – that we will reach our state’s ambitious goals."
Sparks Matter: Finding Your Spark

Second mentor workshop creates SPARKS!

More than 30 people attended our Sept. 18 mentor workshop from the Search Institute. This is the second such workshop we've hosted, and this iteration focused on "sparks," or encouraging a child's specific interests. Check out the video above and tip sheet below from the Search Institute below on finding and encouraging a spark. Visit www.IgniteSparks.org to learn more.

Ways Partners can add to the collective impact model with DCPSS

There are several ways DCPSS partners can utilize our channels to get their organization's message out:
  • Post your event on our website calendar HERE. Original Partners asked that our website act as a clearinghouse, or one-stop-shop about like-minded, student and child-focused organizations.
  • Submit information or an article about how your organization's work supports student achievement and addresses one of the four goals to which DCPSS is committed.
