April Highlights
Library Instruction
Using Overdrive to find Just Right Books
Our 8th grade Reading Workshop students learned how to filter searches to find interesting ebooks and audiobooks.
Discovery Education Board Builder
Our Spanish classes used Discovery Education Board Builder to create presentations with embedded videos and images.
More Web 2.0 Tools
Brainpop and Kahoot were perfect tools when reviewing concepts.
National Library Week
Our Ed White Students and staff made us feel so loved!! Each day we were serenaded with songs and music performed by our band, orchestra, and choir students! I was blown away by their talent!! Thank you to everyone for the affirmations and other goodies!!
Poetry Events
In honor of National Poetry month, we held a month long celebration to promote poetry and reading. We highlighted different poems on announcements and in the library, and we created poems of our own too. What a great month!
TLA Conference
The Texas Library Association conference was a great learning experience. I was able to meet influential literary figures like LeVar Burton, learn about new library trends like 3D printing and Google Cardboard, and make plans for the 2016-2017 school year.
Book Club
The Ed White Book Club met to discuss their thoughts on the Lone Star Award-Winning book, Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. Everyone enjoyed the great discussion and the snacks. Thanks to all of the librarians who loaned us their copy of Steelheart!
Other Library Usage
During the past month, our White Library was also used for:
- Individual and Whole Group Class Checkout
- Accessing Google Classroom for our choir students
- Tutoring and Small Group Instruction with City Year
