Student/Family Services at Ocean Avenue
School social workers help support students to access their education and adjust to the school environment with success. Social work services are available to all students and families at OAES on an as-needed basis. Parents and school staff can refer a child directly to the social worker for support and resources.
Social workers often help with difficulties and transitions such as divorce, death, peer relationships, behavioral problems at home or school, adjustment to a new school, coping with stress and anxiety, and family issues. Frequently, social workers consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support positive outcomes for students. School social workers also network with community providers, helping to bring resources and coordination of services to individual situations.
The social workers at OAES, Karen Potenziano and Carly Roak, are Licensed Clinical Social Workers. They can be reached through the Main Office at 874-8180.
