Update on Closure

Dear Golden Oak Montessori Community:
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you all that our current plan is to remain closed for the remainder of this school year for in-person instruction, based on the recommendation from Alameda County Superintendent of Schools, L. Karen Monroe. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, all K-12 schools in Alameda County plan to remain closed for in-person instruction for the rest of the 2019-20 school year.
Our students and staff will continue our continuity of education plans for the remainder of the school year. We will be trying new things each week and intend to get better as we go. We will continue to meet regularly as a staff to troubleshoot these systems and structures to determine how we can maximize our potential to continue learning in this new environment. ChromeBook computers, pencils, and paper are still available for any student that needs them. Please email info@goldenoakmontessori.org to request and we will arrange a pickup time.
We are working to determine the full impact of this closure now. This will include finding alternative ways to assess student progress and provide feedback on learning, how we maintain community in this remote setting, how we create our yearbook, and honor our graduating 8th graders. We will continue to send communications on what this means for Golden Oak Montessori moving forward.
Thank you for your patience as we work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In Partnership,
Jen Heeter
Head of School
