Our *NEW* Sign!

If you haven't noticed, we have our brand new sign. Thank you to the district for funding the sign. It is much needed in times like these where we can communicate with the community. Thank you to the Maintenance and IT staff, as well as Northridge Electric for your work on making sure it was installed properly and working as it should. It looks AMAZING!

Meet our Mountain Staff

Collin Kirkwood-Music Teacher

Collin Kirkwood is the music teacher at Mountain School. Collin is originally from San Diego, Ca. He played trumpet in many ensembles starting in middle school onward. During his musical education, Collin has played in Jazz Bands, Concert Bands, Brass Bands, Orchestras, Chamber ensembles, Choir, Civil War Band, and Solo pieces. Collin graduated from Humboldt State University in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. Collin attended HSU’s credential program and was a student-teacher at Del Norte High School with Dan Sedgwick. During the 20-21 school year Collin taught at Red Bluff High School as the band director.

Janie Jones-Resource Teacher

Hi, my name is Janie Jones and I have worked here at Mountain as the Resource teacher since October of 2020. I love it here! I love the kids, the families, and the location. I have been in education for 17 years and I am passionate about helping kids find and believe in their own inner strength. Please feel free to reach out to me if you ever have any questions or concerns about your children here at Mountain. Oh! And I love rocks, reading, my grandchildren, and laughing. Gotta have the laughing.

Kathy White-Secretary

My husband and I live in Brookings in a home that we share with my parents. I have three children and six grandchildren that all live in the Bakersfield area, which is where I am originally from. This is my second year working as a secretary at Mountain Elementary. I worked at Castle Rock Charter School in Crescent City for a few years before coming to Mountain. My favorite thing about working here is that I can easily get to know each of the students and their families. My second favorite thing about working here is our beautiful location!

Attendance Matters!

We have had daily Dutch Bros attendance awards for each classroom. During the month of September, we have given out Family Feast dinner coupons every Friday. All kids who had perfect attendance for the week would be in the drawing for the Family Feast. We will continue to reward the students in the coming months. We will update you on what those are as we move forward.
