Yishun In The Past

  • Yishun is the Mandarin pronunciation of Lim Nee Soon’s name, and Nee Soon is the Teochew version. In 1980, Yishun became the official name for the new town.It named after Lim Nee Soon, a prominent industrialist who made his fortune from rubber and pineapples
  • Yishun has started the development of HDB flats since 1976, with the first HDB flats at Chong Pang. Yishun Neighbourhood 1 has been developed since 1981, followed by Neighbourhood 7 and Neighbourhood 2. Neighbourhood 6, 8 and 9 have been developed in 1987, together with the Town Centre. Neighbourhood 3 and 4 followed slightly later in 1992.
  • The shopping centre was opened in 1992 making it the first modern sub-urban mall in a major housing estate (new town). Currently, sub-urban malls are almost a standard feature in all housing estates.The first Golden Village Cinema opened in May 1992, it was then the largest multiplex with the most screens (10 in all) in Asia.

Present Yishun

Mostly the people who gets interviews/Residents say thats it is not enough of amenities and facilities within Yishun ring road Neighbourhood. The list of what the interviews say (library, Skating Board, Fitness corner, Cafe , bonding corner, Better scenery, Wet market and "Good" shopping mall)

There is sense of belonging within Yishun Ring Road. The interviews/Residents said that the Place is very Special to them are mostly the coffee shops. it can fits a lot of people to gather around and can chit chat until very late also very convenient as friends/relatives who living near them can come down and chit chat or have supper.

The Residents/Interviews like the mosts have difference place like some of them said that is Environments, Park, Easy to travel and move around also good transport good facilities
