Fair Oaks Community School
Message From the Principal
Dear Fair Oaks Community,
I want to thank the parents and family members for attending the parent/teacher conferences this week. Parent teacher conferences are a way of collaborating with your child's teacher as a partnership with the school and home. We appreciate sharing a role in educating your child. The teachers depend on parents and families to help support us in making sure your child has the best education possible. Please note that our school is on an early release day for the rest of this week. Kinder students are released at 1:10, and 1-3 is released at 1:30 and 4-5 is released at 1:32. Please make sure to pick up your children on time.
I enjoy walking through the classrooms everyday. I see students working hard in joyful learning environments. I see teachers committed to the students and making sure each of their students gets everything they need in order to be successful.
I want to let you know that we have started rewarding students with Falcon Tickets again. Students earn Falcon Tickets when a teacher or other adult sees a student demonstrating the type of behavior that we are trying to promote in all areas of our school. When a student earns a Falcon Ticket their ticket with their name on it goes into a box and each week we pull out the names of two boys and two girls to come pick a prize from the office. You can help us by speaking to your children about our PBIS program. We teach our children to help one another, follow the school rules, be a good friends, and be safe at school. We are encouraging our students to find ways to solve conflicts with each other rather than using physical actions and/or being unkind. We are using the 'solution wheel' to help guide the students. We have encouraged our teachers to use this with the students when they are presented with student conflict. We are a community and we need to learn to live harmoniously in this community together. I am posting a picture of the wheel in both English and Spanish so you can see the visual we are using to guide the students.
We are going to be having some fun activities coming up in the next month or two as well as some very important testing in late April. Please look in your child's Thursday folder for more information. I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, now that the rain has passed. The children are happy to be able to play outside again! Please don't hesitate to contact me if there's anything I can do to help.
