School and Home Partnerships
Now more than ever it is crucial for parent teacher partnerships. Thank you to all the parents that have worked with us during these difficult times. We appreciate your support and collaboration. We know that it is rough trying to juggle virtual learning for multiple kids while keeping your own jobs responsibilities. We are here to support you. Please reach out for any assistance.
Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and babysitters that have been ensuring students log onto the correct times and monitoring their child's activity on the devices. This is making a positive difference in student achievement. This is temporary and students will be back on campus soon!
Return to School Safely
New River staff has been meeting this week to put procedures in place for safety when we return to school. These procedures are being created and will be communicated to the community once they are complete. There is a possibility that students will be returning soon. Keep checking the Maricopa County School Reopening Dashboard at: https://www.maricopa.gov/5594/School-Metrics#dashboard. You can listen to DVUSD school board discussions on reopening schools at: https://livestream.com/dvusd Tuesday, September 8 at 7 pm.
Stay tuned for important communication from DVUSD and New River School.

Raised Garden Project Update
Next week's motto is:
I'm kind to the people I'm with right now!
Kindness isn't something we need to reserve for only our friends. Kindness is something we can share with everyone. This week is all about expanding what we may believe it means to be kind.
For example, while being kind can mean an act of service, it can also mean a state of being. Even though I may not be physically holding open a door for someone or actively sharing my crayons with a person, I can still show kindness.
Kindness can also include the way we pay attention to one another when we speak. Sharing our smile or nodding to let the speaker know we are listening; this is also kindness because it tells the other person that you care about what they have to say.
While an act of kindness is wonderful and can make both the giver and the receiver feel great, kindness can be more than something we do. Kindness can be something we are.
Here is the Student Newsletter for this week, and here are some picture books that relate to this week's motto:
- The Three Questions by Jon J. Muth
- The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss
- I Can Be Kind: My First Manners Book by Amie Carlson
- Everyone Matters: A First Look at Respect for Others by Pat Thomas
Wishing you health and happiness,
Danna Evans
