Mayhem Poets Assembly - Thank You MEF!

Yesterday we hosted the Mayhem Poets in an all school assembly. A BIG thank you to the MEF for supporting this fantastic programming for our students. Scottt (with three Ts) and MC (short for Mikumari) performed poetry, spoken word and slam poetry for our students, focusing on the power of our words and using them wisely. Be sure to ask your child about this assembly!

Upcoming NJSLA & Headphones

Our NJSLA testing for grades 6 through 8 will run Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 12. Students will come to school at their regular time; however, we will run a delayed opening schedule so that we can complete testing during the first two hours of school.

Students are required to use plug-in headphones or earbuds during testing - no blue tooth ear devices are permitted. If your child has a pair of plug-in headphones they would like to use, please have them bring them all week. The office will provide plug-in ear buds for any students that need them.

Take Your Child to Work Day

Take Your Child to Work Day is next Thursday, April 28. If your child will be joining you at work, please call the attendance line (973-593-3149) or email Linda Damiano (damianol@madisonnjps.org) to inform us of your child's absence and the reason. We will be noting this day as excused for students joining their family members at work!

Attention Current 6th & 7th Grade Families - Cycles/Electives Next Year

On Wednesday, April 26, our 6th and 7th-grade students will learn about their cycle and elective class choices next year. The choices available to our students will be posted on the website and emailed home to families in the coming two weeks.

We ask families to join their students in making these selections through the Genesis Parent Portal this year. An email home on the day of the presentations will share the website link and provide information on how this process works.

Selections for cycles open on Thursday, May 5, at 3 pm. This is not a first-come, first-served process, so please take your time to make these choices thoughtfully with your child. Cycle choices should be completed by families the following Thursday, May 12.

Color Run - Thursday April 20 - 3pm!

Please join us for our first-ever MJS Color Run sponsored by the PTO and Student Council. Our Color Run route, approximately 2 miles, will start at MJS and cross through several local neighborhoods, with the finish line at the back fields of the school. Madison Police are partnering with us to support safety with traffic and crosswalks. Music, drinks, snacks... let's Color Run for a cause. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend!

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event. Purchases are available via PTO Venmo or on the PTO Square Site. Tickets purchased before April 10 are $20.

Funds raised for this event will support the beautification of MJS, including updating and restoring our Main Street school marquee.

Buy a Color Run t-shirt, and you will also help us raise funds for the Goryeb Children's Hospital Bambaci program, which aims to bring musical instruments to the activity center for Goreyb patients. A big thank you to Giulia Bambaci, who designed the t-shirt in honor of her Madison high school brother Luca. Order forms are available in the main office, and if we have an overstock, shirts may also be bought at the event.

Students are encouraged to wear a white t-shirt as they will run through several color stations and get their Madison or Rainbow Color shower. Sunglasses will be provided. A beach towel is recommended to cover any seats in the car that might need protection from the loose color powder.
