Your Source For All Things Middle School East
Welcome Back!
- Learning is the fundamental purpose of our school and therefore we are willing to continually evaluate daily practices to better impact your students learning.
- We are committed to working together to help achieve our collective purpose. As a result, we will cultivate a positive, collaborative culture to ensure high performing student success.
- Our success is based on results rather than intentions. We will use relevant data to ensure your student’s education is continually improving.
These commitments will help improve the FTMS East experience and we look forward to seeing our students grow and improve. Throughout the year it is our goal to keep our parents informed about the great things happening at East. There are several ways to follow the happenings at East:
- Facebook: FTMS East@ftmseast
- Twitter: FTMSEast@EastFTMS
- Weekly Smore Newsletters
These avenues will give you information on all the great things happening at East. Additionally, we routinely send information out via Infinite Campus and Blackboard Connect phone calls. We hope these avenues are helpful as you and your student move throughout the school year at East.
We are looking forward to a great year!
Reminder!!! Back to School Night
The format for the night is a "A Day in the Life of Your Student." You will be provided a copy of your child's schedule which you will follow that night (your student will bring a hand written copy home on August 6th) . You will spend 14 minutes in each class with 5 minute passing periods between each period. You will follow the schedule of a your students BLUE day schedule.
Positive Behavior Intervention Supports
Has your student come home with a silver "Be Responsible" pencil? If so, then a staff member here at East has recognized them in the first 4 days of school as being a RESPONSIBLE individual.
Staff members were instructed to hand out "RESPONSIBLE" pencils to those making a positive impact via their responsibility. Students who received a pencil were going above and beyond in the responsibility department. These students were setting an exemplary example for other students.
Congratulations to those who have received a pencil! As always, be Safe, be RESPONSIBLE, be RESPECTFUL, and MAY THE FLASH BE WITH YOU!

East's Lunchroom Procedures!
This year at East we are working toward improving these procedures in order to better serve our students and create an environment that is safe for lunch.
To ensure our students understand and implement our procedures we have established a 20 day training period. This training will focus on the following expectations:
- Entering the Lunch Room: Students should enter the cafeteria calmly and safely. This includes not running to their tables.
- Volume during Lunch: Its important for students to have a chance to talk and enjoy their friends. When doing this it's also important to have a volume that makes the cafeteria a safe place for students. Students have four volume levels.
- Staying in Seats: Its important that our 450 students, per lunch, remain seated. If students need help they can raise their hand and a lunch supervisor will help them.
- Clean-up: Just like at home we believe that all students should clean-up the messes they make.
- Exiting the Lunch Room: Students should exit the cafeteria calmly and safely. This includes not running to their rooms.
Over the next 20 days we will continue to evaluate the students' efforts during lunch. As they master these expectations our students will begin to earn more privileges and rewards. This includes, but is not limited to: Open gym, Friday electronics, lunch room trivia, preferred seating, as well as other rewards intended to recognize their mastery of lunchroom expectations.
The students are off to a great start thus far! Check out the data for 6th and 7th grade below!
