Grace Nicolay Earns Trevor Joerling Scholarship
The Limelight Theatre Drama Club and the Drama Parent Club would like to congratulate Grace Nicolay for being the 2019 recipient of the Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship.
Grace Nicolay, daughter of Denise Nicolay of St. Charles, Missouri, is a Senior at Francis Howell High School graduating this May. Grace will be pursuing a degree in Art Therapy at St. Charles Community College in the Fall. Grace is a four- year member of the Limelight Theatre Drama Club having joined her Freshman Year. She became a member of the International Thespian Society in 2017. She has participated in 18 Limelight Theatre productions being involved with the Hair & Make Up Crew. Grace earned the role of Lead Make Up Artist for 12 of these productions.
Grace has also been awarded Honor Thespian for committing over 600 hours to the theatre while in High School.
In addition to being a member of the Drama Club, Grace is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Viking Edge Program, a mentor program at Francis Howell High School providing Freshman students with a supportive environment that helps ease the student adjustment from Middle school to High School.
Grace was presented the Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship at the annual FHHS Limelight Theatre Drama Club Banquet in May by Mrs. Brandee Joerling, Trevor’s Mother.
Grace shared her feelings about being this year’s recipient, “Being presented the Scholarship by Mrs. Joerling was very special. It felt like Trevor was actually there with me and that I was making him proud. Being the recipient of this Scholarship is so important to me because I knew Trevor and it made me feel close to Trevor once again. Trevor was one of the most welcoming and genuine people in Drama Club. “
The Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor fellow Limelight Theatre Drama Club member, Trevor Joerling, who lost a brave battle with cancer in 2014. It is with love and fond remembrance that this scholarship is awarded in his name.
