Baseball Wins 20th District Championship In Program History

On Wednesday night the baseball program earned a 10-1 win over Liberty to notch their 20th District Championship in program history and to advance to host the State Sectional on Tuesday at home versus Rock Bridge at 3:30 p.m. The Vikings won on three consecutive days to win the District Championship. Congratulations to Coach Perkins and the baseball program and good luck in the State Sectional on Tuesday!

Girls Soccer Wins District Championship

For the first time in nine years the Howell Girls Soccer program has won a district title. The Lady Vikings earned a 1-0 win over #6 state ranked FZW and #9 state ranked Holt in PK's to earn the District Championship on Wednesday night. Our Girls Soccer program will now host Hickman on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Howell in the State Sectional game. We hope to see many Viking fans out supporting these ladies as they look to make a strong post-season run!

Track Advances Seven To State Meet

It was a great day for the Howell Track program as they advanced seven to the State Track Meet this Friday and Saturday at Jefferson City High School. The complete list of State Qualifiers can be found below. Congratulations to these young men and women that will represent Howell at the State level this weekend and good luck!

Prager & Brewster Turn In Strong Performances At State Golf Tournament

Congratulations to Kirk Brewster and Cole Prager for representing Howell at the MSHSAA Golf State Championships this past week. The two Vikings concluded their high school golf careers at Silo Ridge Golf Course in Bolivar, Missouri where the State Championship was being held. Cole finished with a 2 day total of 161 (41st overall) and Kirk shot 164 (53rd). Both Vikings have represented Howell and the golf program well on and off the course over the course of their high school careers. Congratulations again to these two young men on great careers at Howell!

Girls Lacrosse Reaches Sweet 16 For First Time In Program History

The Girls Lacrosse program picked up three State Tournament wins to advance them to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. The Girls Lacrosse program became the first in FHSD history to reach the Sweet 16 in only it's fourth season of offering the sport. The Lady Vikings great post-season run came to an end on Sunday in a loss to a very talented Marquette team. Congratulations to Coach Ginn and the Girls Lacrosse program on a great season. Viking fans look forward to seeing the sport and program continue to grow at Howell!

Jackson Dunn Advances To Tennis State Sectionals

The Boys Tennis season has come to an end after our very own Jackson Dunn made a strong post-season run. The Viking advanced to the Individual State Sectional match in singles this past week. Jackson had an impressive season and was the lone Howell representative to advance to the State level this season. Congratulations to Jackson on an amazing season!

Washington University Assistant Althage Named Next Head Girls Basketball Coach

Following the Francis Howell School District Board of Education meeting on Thursday night, Washington University assistant Women's Basketball Coach Andrew Althage was named the next Head Girls Basketball Coach of Francis Howell High School.

Coach Althage brings both high school and college coaching experience to the Francis Howell High School girls basketball program. Andrew has spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Washington University in St. Louis for the women’s basketball team. He helped the Bears extend their consecutive streak of NCAA Tournament appearances to 30 years after assisting the Bears to a 22-7 record including a UAA conference title and an Elite Eight Appearance this season. During his time at Washington University, the Bears have won 4 UAA Conference Titles (2019, 2017, 2016, 2015), made 3 Elite Eight Appearances (2019, 2017, 2016), a Sweet Sixteen Appearance (2015) and a Round of 32 appearance (2018). In 2019, 2015, and 2016 seasons the Bears advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual National Champions.

Coach Althage has served under Hall of Fame Washington University coach, Nancy Fahey, for three years. Coach Fahey is currently the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Illinois. He served as the underclassman coordinator and worked with post player development. He has worked with two All Americans players while serving at Wash U (2019, 2015).

Before coaching at Wash University, Andrew served for 10 years as a high school coach. Most recently, he spent three years as the boys assistant and freshman coach at Lindbergh High School. While there, Andrew helped the program to district runner up to Vianney in 2013. Andrew was also the head boys varsity coach for four seasons at Windsor High School. Andrew began his coaching career with a three-year stint as the junior varsity coach at Bishop DuBourg High School.

Coach Althage also played at the college level at both Missouri Baptist University and Fontbonne University prior to entering the coaching profession.

Players, students and fans will have the opportunity to meet Coach Althage this Wednesday for a "Meet and Greet" in the Learning Commons at 6:00 p.m. to learn more about his vision for the program and to gain more information on summer activities for the Girls Basketball program.

Howell To Host Two State Sectional Events On Tuesday

The Howell Family will have the opportunity to get out and support their Vikings in State Sectional action this Tuesday as we host baseball and girls soccer games at Howell. Both programs have advanced to the State Sectional game and are one of only sixteen teams remaining in the state. Please be sure to follow @FHVikings for updated information on the State Sectional games as weather may be an issue for the two games. Good luck to both programs this Tuesday. We hope to see many Viking fans in their blue and gold out supporting the post-season run of both programs!

Limelight Theatre Recognizes Honor Thespians

The Howell Limelight Theatre would like to Congratulate the following Drama students who have achieved Honor Thespian status within the International Thespian Society:

The International Thespian Society is an Honor Society for Drama Students. An Honor Thespian is a Drama student who has devoted 600 or more hours to High School theatre. Few students reach the level of Honor Thespian. In addition, Marissa Gibbons has earned the Outstanding Thespian Award. This award is presented to students who have devoted 700 or more hours to High School Theatre. She is only the 3rd student to receive this honor since the Limelight Theatre began recognizing this level of achievement. Past recipients of the Outstanding Thespian Award include Erin Zhang (2018) and Jake Conrad (2018).

Grace Nicolay Earns Trevor Joerling Scholarship

The Limelight Theatre Drama Club and the Drama Parent Club would like to congratulate Grace Nicolay for being the 2019 recipient of the Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship.

Grace Nicolay, daughter of Denise Nicolay of St. Charles, Missouri, is a Senior at Francis Howell High School graduating this May. Grace will be pursuing a degree in Art Therapy at St. Charles Community College in the Fall. Grace is a four- year member of the Limelight Theatre Drama Club having joined her Freshman Year. She became a member of the International Thespian Society in 2017. She has participated in 18 Limelight Theatre productions being involved with the Hair & Make Up Crew. Grace earned the role of Lead Make Up Artist for 12 of these productions.

Grace has also been awarded Honor Thespian for committing over 600 hours to the theatre while in High School.

In addition to being a member of the Drama Club, Grace is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Viking Edge Program, a mentor program at Francis Howell High School providing Freshman students with a supportive environment that helps ease the student adjustment from Middle school to High School.

Grace was presented the Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship at the annual FHHS Limelight Theatre Drama Club Banquet in May by Mrs. Brandee Joerling, Trevor’s Mother.

Grace shared her feelings about being this year’s recipient, “Being presented the Scholarship by Mrs. Joerling was very special. It felt like Trevor was actually there with me and that I was making him proud. Being the recipient of this Scholarship is so important to me because I knew Trevor and it made me feel close to Trevor once again. Trevor was one of the most welcoming and genuine people in Drama Club. “

The Trevor Joerling Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor fellow Limelight Theatre Drama Club member, Trevor Joerling, who lost a brave battle with cancer in 2014. It is with love and fond remembrance that this scholarship is awarded in his name.

Three More GG's To Dance At College Level

This past week three Golden Girls announced their plans to further their education and dance at the college level. Maddie Taylor will be heading off to Maryville University and both Callee and Cortnee Rowell will be attending the University of Memphis to dance. These three GG's join Sam Miller and Megan Walker in the Class of 2019 that will be furthering their education and dance at the college level. Congratulations to these Golden Girls for great careers and good luck at the college level!

Girls Soccer Volunteers With SPENSA

Over the past several years many Howell programs have started yearly traditions that revolve around service and outreach in our community. On Saturday, the girls soccer program continued their involvement and outreach in the community by volunteering with the Special Needs Soccer Association (SPENSA). The girls program took to the field to help young people with disabilities play soccer. The goal of is to bring the excitement and fun of playing soccer to players who traditionally have not had a place in the youth soccer system. For more information on SPENSA please visit

Howell Alum Adam Long Competes At PGA Championship

This past weekend Howell alum Adam Long competed in the PGA Championship. The former Viking finished the tournament at a +7.
