Following the Francis Howell School District Board of Education meeting on Thursday night, Washington University assistant Women's Basketball Coach Andrew Althage was named the next Head Girls Basketball Coach of Francis Howell High School.
Coach Althage brings both high school and college coaching experience to the Francis Howell High School girls basketball program. Andrew has spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Washington University in St. Louis for the women’s basketball team. He helped the Bears extend their consecutive streak of NCAA Tournament appearances to 30 years after assisting the Bears to a 22-7 record including a UAA conference title and an Elite Eight Appearance this season. During his time at Washington University, the Bears have won 4 UAA Conference Titles (2019, 2017, 2016, 2015), made 3 Elite Eight Appearances (2019, 2017, 2016), a Sweet Sixteen Appearance (2015) and a Round of 32 appearance (2018). In 2019, 2015, and 2016 seasons the Bears advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual National Champions.
Coach Althage has served under Hall of Fame Washington University coach, Nancy Fahey, for three years. Coach Fahey is currently the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Illinois. He served as the underclassman coordinator and worked with post player development. He has worked with two All Americans players while serving at Wash U (2019, 2015).
Before coaching at Wash University, Andrew served for 10 years as a high school coach. Most recently, he spent three years as the boys assistant and freshman coach at Lindbergh High School. While there, Andrew helped the program to district runner up to Vianney in 2013. Andrew was also the head boys varsity coach for four seasons at Windsor High School. Andrew began his coaching career with a three-year stint as the junior varsity coach at Bishop DuBourg High School.
Coach Althage also played at the college level at both Missouri Baptist University and Fontbonne University prior to entering the coaching profession.
Players, students and fans will have the opportunity to meet Coach Althage this Wednesday for a "Meet and Greet" in the Learning Commons at 6:00 p.m. to learn more about his vision for the program and to gain more information on summer activities for the Girls Basketball program.

It felt like Trevor was actually there with me and that I was making him proud. Being the recipient of this Scholarship is so important to me because I knew Trevor and it made me feel close to Trevor once again. Trevor was one of the most welcoming and genuine people in Drama Club. “
