Beginning of the year focus
Right before school began with our students our teaching staff were involved in many professional development and training sessions. One of the many topics we trained on was developing our Relational Capacity (the level of safety and trust between student and teacher and student to student). Building our classroom and school communities are vital to being an excellent school where students and staff can thrive! We are spending time getting to know one other, learning one another's name, understanding classroom and school-wide expectations, and practicing the school routines. We want all students to feel comfortable and confident.
Kindness- An important trait for all of us
Throughout the school year, we will focus on one specific character trait each month. For the month of September, we are focusing on the hugely important character trait of KINDNESS.
This week and last week Principal Taylor has been making her way into every classroom to share a message and read a children's book about the importance of showing kindness. We have talked about how we can show kindness to other students, adults and members of our families. Every day we have an opportunity to act with kindness and spread joy!
iPad Chargers
For those of you who had children at Knight last year, please return the ipad charger that went home last year with your child's district provided ipad. We are in need of the chargers and would appreciate not having to replace them. Thank you for your help!

We will begin doing hearing screenings for all Kindergarten through 2nd grade students. If you do not wish to have your child's hearing screened please contact the school office at 503-263-7100 by Monday, September 19th.

Time to update your child's school information
Updated Information Required: Before the beginning of every school year, we request that parents/guardians begin to review and/or update their family and student information. Keeping your family's information up to date is crucial to receiving timely communication from Knight Elementary and Canby School District. It ensures that you can be contacted in case of emergency. These updates can be done online through your ParentVUE account. If you need assistance please contact Heidi Hughes, Knight Registrar at 503-263-7100 or heidi.hughes@canby.k12.or.us
