Math In The News!
A reporter and photographer from the Republican American visited both lower and upper elementary classrooms this morning to get a real look at our new math program, Bridges. The teachers did an excellent job showcasing our new curriculum and Mr. Gusenburg (our Assistant Superintendent) was also here. Our students did a fantastic job learning, collaborating and communicating in math today!
Kindergarten Number Corner
Children were collaborating with peers to identify patterns.
Third Grade Math Stations
Students were using a game approach in small groups to solidify addition and subtraction facts and gain number sense.
Kindergarten Number Corner
Children were actively engaged in working on number patterns and counting on, which builds number sense.
Paper Towers
I had the pleasure of visiting a second grade earlier, and saw that students were collaborating and using awesome skills such as critical thinking, communication and problem solving in order to create the tallest, free-standing structure!
Slinky Light Waves
Upper elementary students went through an investigation based on using a slinky as a model of how light waves travel. They moved the slinky from side to side while it rested on the floor to watch the flow of energy flowing through the coils. Then they stood up and snapped the slinky to create a different type of wave movement. One of the students walked out of class and exclaimed, "Best science class ever!"
