One School One Book 2024
We are sad our annual One School One Book reading journey is over for this year. Morning announcements just won't be the same without our daily trivia! We hope you enjoyed the story and a few extra minutes of family time reading together each night. This annual project always brings so much excitement about the power of reading. “One School, One Book” isn't just about reading but about creating bonds, sparking discussions, and weaving a tapestry of shared experiences. It's the magic of community reading and something truly special.
The time and energy you've dedicated to reading this story with your child each night helps us to teach one of life's most valuable lessons...reading a great story takes you on an adventure that can be so much better than video games and tv shows!
An enormous thank you to The Westmoreland PTO for continuing to fund this program year after year! This year, families are able to keep the books.
Over the course of the week, we were able to raise $221 to donate to The Seeing Eye!
Students voted for their favorite dog character. Here are the results:
MacTavish: $61
Red Rover: $74
Friday: $86
We did not meet our goal of raising $500 (YET); Therefore, this collection will continue through next week. Money will be donated to help The Seeing Eye raise a puppy to help a visually impaired person. Students are hoping to make it to $500 to win an extra recess period.
We look forward to the upcoming PTO Movie Day, on Sunday February 4th, to watch Hotel for Dogs on the big screen! The movie is very different from the book. I am interested to hear which the students (and parents) liked better! You can purchase tickets in advance by visiting the Memberhub Store (link below). Tickets will also be sold at the door.
Again, THANK YOU for participating in this reading project with us!
Good news! Only approximately 335 days left until we reveal next year's title!☺️
CogAT Screener
In the coming weeks, the CogAT Screener will be administered to all Kindergarten students. In addition, it will be administered to any First Grade students who enrolled in the Fair Lawn School District after the most recent test administration date. The CogAT Screener consists of verbal/picture analogies, number analogies, and figure matrices. Data gathered from this assessment will enable us to plan effective programs for our students and make decisions regarding academically talented programs.
