2023 GREATER ST. ALBERT CATHOLIC SCHOOLS UKRAINIAN REFUGEE RELIEF LENTEN CHALLENGE
This Lent GSACRD is continuing to partner with Catholic Social Services to support Refugees and Newcomers.
Catholic Social Services is currently responding to as many as 60 calls a day from Ukrainians who need our help.
These are women, children, and families who have fled the war in Ukraine in search of safety and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
Since March 2022, CSS has helped more than 2,500 Ukrainian nationals, as well as 2,300 refugees from other countries.
Currently, CSS provides settlement supports to as many as 300 Ukrainians each week. Up to one third of these clients are in need of emergency accommodations. Many are arriving with few personal items and no access to funding.
Donations to Catholic Social Services' Refugee Relief Fund helps CSS respond to the urgent needs of these clients, and allows us to provide food, clothing, school supplies, and accommodations for the Ukrainian nationals and refugees who need it most.
To donate go to our St. Kateri Tekakwitha Academy School Page:

International Women’s Day
On Wednesday, March 8th, 2023 it is International Women’s Day. On this day and others, we celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality. Check out these awesome ways to actively celebrate International Women’s Day!
Wear purple on Wednesday:
Throw on your purple shirts, shorts, socks, and hats. Purple is the official color of International Women’s Day!
Do something kind for a girl or woman that you admire:
Write a note, make a phone call, say “thank you”, offer help - support the girls and women in your life by doing something nice for them.
Watch a girl power film or listen to music by female artists:
There are so many awesome movies that show the strength of girls and women. Here are a few to choose from: Matilda, Brave, Little Women, Mulan, Tangled, Frozen, Anne of Green Gables, Wizard of Oz, Tottoro, Lilo & Stitch, Mary Poppins, and Bend it Like Beckham. These movies are a wonderful tool to use when having conversations with your kids about International Women’s Day!
Read about inspirational women:
Head to the library or grab your computer and search up some amazing women. Here are a few inspirational females to start: Marie Curie, Mother Teresa, Malala Yousifazi, Venus & Serena Williams, and Kenojuak Ashevak.
Make something purple!
Bake a purple cake, or create a piece of art with all shades of purple - display that art proudly!
