What is a Poetry Slam?

A Poetry Slam features original poetry performed in front of an audience. The spotlight is on the poetry and how it is delivered. Performances of original poetry in English and/or Spanish can be:

  • traditional and non-traditional poetry and verse

  • original songs/lyrics, rap, hip-hop

Rules....

You may only attend during Mustang Morning, your scheduled lunch, or with a class.

It takes lots of hard work and creativity to write an original poem or song. It also takes courage and initiative to perform an original piece in front of your peers.

**Show respect for the audience and performers!**
