What is Mindfulness
What is Mindfulness
We are living through challenging times filled with worries, fears, anxiety and uncertainty. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can help calm feelings of anxiety as well as build healthy coping skills. Mindfulness is about paying attention to the present moment since focusing on the future can heighten feelings of uncertainty, fear and anxiety.
This is a video that explains mindfulness.

Dear Parents,
TVUSD is excited to offer i-Ready which is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your child’s teacher determine their academic needs, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. I-Ready allows your teacher to meet your child exactly where they are and provides data to increase their learning gains.
The first part of i-Ready is a diagnostic assessment that will take place during the instructional day online with a credentialed teacher. This diagnostic assessment will adapt and adjust its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each new item is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. i-Ready instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your child can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your child engaged as they learn.

Red Hawk Elementary is excited to start the diagnostic with our classes the week of September 15th. We will be testing students during their language arts time and any other time deemed necessary during the school day. Students will be shown a short presentation to explain the importance of the assessment, and that the test is not to obtain a grade, but to help their teachers provide more systematic and focused instruction for their specific needs. Please take a look at the following checklist to help your child be prepared for the day of their assessment.
If you have any questions about this assessment please contact Sheryl Kale or Theresa Hizon at Red Hawk Elementary.
