Hudson Valley Author to Visit Sargent
On May 3rd we will welcome local author, Andrea Perez, to Sargent for an author study. Andrea has written 3 books and will be reading her brand new book, Eddie and Fred: Teach Calming Tools to our PreK-3rd grade students. Andrea will also visit our 4th and 5th grade students for a workshop where students will learn about the writing process, discuss the story behind Eddie and Fred and how Andrea turned her grief into something empowering. The hope is students will leave inspired, motivated and with the confidence that, one day, they could publish their own work too!
Andrea became a military widow at the age of 25 and published her memoir, Who Are You Calling a Widow? in 2010. She is a mom of two and an elementary school guidance counselor in New York. After publishing her memoir, she discovered a love for writing children’s books and partnered up with her sister Diana to write the Eddie and Fred book series. Ms. Biordi read Eddie and Fred: We are all Heroes to the student body during a principal's read aloud during Bullying Prevention Week!
Each student in grades Pk-3 will receive a free, signed copy of Eddie and Fred: We are all Heros. Order forms for Andrea's new book, Eddie and Fred: Teach Calming Tools will be sent home with students this week. Checks can be made out to Sargent PTO.
