Jumanji won the Caldecott was in 1982 and the author wrote the book to persuade and entertain. Chris was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 18th 1949. The second child of Doris Christiasen Van Allsburg and Richard Van Allsburg. His sister Kharen was born in 1947. Also he won some other Caldecott Award. I think they chose these book because it had great pictures and the pictures told you what they were doing and showed the setting. The three books I compared Jumanji was The Fool Of The World And The Flying Ship, Mei LI, and Black and White. I think Jumanji was the best out of the three because it had more of a real feel and cartoon at the same time. But the other books were real or cartoony not both.
