History behind the Assassination of Lincoln.
April 11, 1865
Abraham Lincoln gave a speech, during his speech, Lincoln called for limited Negro suffrage, giving the right to vote to those who had served in the military during the war. During the speech John W. Booth said "That means nigger citizenship. That is the last speech he will ever make." As a result of that speech, Mr.Booth was furious towards the President. When Mr.Booth herd about the theater that Mr.Lincoln was going to, he saw an opportunity, to kill Abraham Lincoln.

Well Mr.Lincoln was watching the play, he was shoot in the back of the head, by Mr.Booth. When Mr.Booth escaped he broke his leg when he jumped out of the box seats and he said as he was running away "Sic semper tyrannis" ("Thus always to tyrants").
How did the assassination of Lincoln show importance during this time period?
During this time period when Lincoln was assassinated, it showed that the south forbid such acts to end slavery or even try to end slavery. This event also showed that the president needed to be more protected from dangers such as assassinations.

A major effect was that the relations between the North and South worsened because Lincoln was all for becoming one nation again.

What is the Importance/ lessons learned from the Assassination of Lincoln Today?
It was the first assassination of a US President; it showed protection of the President is a job not to be taken lightly. It also showed that creating tensions with someone or a bunch of people, can lead to war. An example is when Lincoln was assassinated by Mr.Booth( from the south)tensions grew between the north and the south, which lead to a war.
