Respect and Responsibility - Building a Kinder Campus
The Forest Grove community believes strongly in helping our students build positive relationships with each other and the adults on campus.
One important element to teaching them how to interact in a healthy way is our Character Counts program.
Each month, we emphasize one character trait that we hope will reduce interpersonal conflicts while improving the educational environment at our school. We opened the school year in August talking about respect, and in September, our teachers and staff will be teaching our students the importance of responsibility.
With regard to respect, we focused on treating others the way we would like to be treated.
This month we will encourage our students to “do what you are supposed to do.”
Our monthly efforts culminate in a Falcon Assembly where our third through fifth grade students who have demonstrated the month’s trait are recognized with a certificate at the assembly, then their photos are displayed on a poster in the front office.
Working together with our families, we hope to provide some powerful lessons about responsibility this month.
Keeping our Drop Off and Pick Up Safe
We would like to thank all of our parents for driving safely during our drop off and pick up times.
Here are a couple of reminders that will keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible before and after school
Remember the green zone is only for dropping off and picking up your student.
You should never leave your car to walk a student into school if you are in the front circle drop off zone.
Always pull as far forward as possible in the drop off/pick up zone.
Always park in the parent parking lots if you want to walk your student to class. There are spots available on Congress Avenue and by Breaker Stadium. Also, there are more than 100 spaces available above campus in the lot you can enter off of Forest Lodge Road.
Most importantly, stay patient, be alert, and drive carefully.
Thank you so much.
Butterfly Parade and Bazaar
Each year, every school in PGUSD is asked to provide volunteers for the Butterfly Parade & Bazaar. This is an excellent source of funds for our Parent Teacher Association, and we need your help to help fill a volunteer space.
The time commitment is not too large, and families have always enjoyed their time helping with the cake walk or some other fun activity.
