CogAT Screening

Students in grades 2 & 3 will participate in the CogAT screening during November 29th and December 17th. The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a multiple-choice test designed to measure a child's academic aptitude and gifted abilities.

If you wish to have your child "opt out" of this screening, you may do so by contacting the school office at 357-8844 or by sending in written notice that you do not wish for your child to be screened for the gifted program.

COVID Guidance for Schools

As a reminder, all students, staff, and families are to wear tightly fitting masks over the nose and mouth while on school property (gaiters are not allowed) and must practice social distancing measures, to the extent possible.

Attention Families: Student Earbuds or Headphones Needed

Please send in earbuds or headphones for your student to use during the school day. These earbuds or headphones will be stored in individual ziploc bags labeled with your child's name. You will want to be sure that the earbuds or headphone connectors fit your student's individual technology device (iPad: K-2; Chromebook: 3-5). Thank you!

Family Resources:

CES has reading and math resources available for families to check out. These games and activities can be used at home to support your student's learning. Please email or call Mrs. Hatfield (phatfiel@iwcs.k12.va.us) or Mrs. Reeder (kreeder@iwcs.k12.va.us) 357-8844 if you are interested in checking out these resources.
