1. Our final ‘scheduled’ eLearning Day for GC is next Wednesday, January 30th. Students will be bringing home their iPads Tuesday evening to complete their Wednesday assignments. Teachers will be involved in a professional development opportunity in the morning with “office hours” in the afternoon. You can call and talk to someone in the office if you need any tech help that day (317) 462-1492. Remember that iPads need to be returned to school Thursday morning. We use them everyday!
2. It's not too late to purchase iPad Insurance for $35. You can pay with a check or online through your child's EZ-Pay account (also used for lunch accounts and textbook rentals) or complete and return the attached form.
3. Camp Invention is Back! Camp Invention will be returning to JB Stephens Elementary July 15-19 for students entering K - 6th grade for the 2019-20 school year, flyers went home before winter break! This years program is going to be our best year yet, check it out at www.campinvention.org We are in need of some parent help and it comes along with the benefit of registration discounts! Please contact Amanda Bradford, abradford@gcsc.k12.in.us if interested in the opportunities below:
4. Yearbooks are on sale through February 15th. Parents may order with the form (copy found below) or by going online to ybpay.lifetouch.com and using ID code 1768519.
5. The Movie Night for January 25 has been cancelled. Be on the lookout for information about our February Movie Night.
6. The effects of the government shut down on public benefits is unsure at this point in time. There are two flyers at the bottom of this week’s Top Ten which have information about food support resources in Hancock County. Due to the partial U.S. government shutdown, February #SNAP benefits were made available on EBT cards on January 16, 2019, for anyone eligible at that time. These benefits are intended for use in February. You will not receive additional benefits in the month of February. You should plan for your benefits to last through the entire month of February. Indiana retailers can still process SNAP/EBT during the shutdown. Reports of retailers not being able to take SNAP are technical issues relating to those retailers only. New applications and case changes will continue to be processed as usual.

8. The Second Step social emotional lessons continue to be taught in all 16 classrooms at Weston. This quarter’s topic is recognizing and managing one’s own emotions. The skills of taking deep breaths, using positive self-talk, and counting will be taught. Watch for the home links to come home so that you and your child may practice these skills together.
9. The HCPL Bookmobile will be at Weston on Friday, February the 1st.
