6. The effects of the government shut down on public benefits is unsure at this point in time. There are two flyers at the bottom of this week’s Top Ten which have information about food support resources in Hancock County. Due to the partial U.S. government shutdown, February #SNAP benefits were made available on EBT cards on January 16, 2019, for anyone eligible at that time. These benefits are intended for use in February. You will not receive additional benefits in the month of February. You should plan for your benefits to last through the entire month of February. Indiana retailers can still process SNAP/EBT during the shutdown. Reports of retailers not being able to take SNAP are technical issues relating to those retailers only. New applications and case changes will continue to be processed as usual.
