Support Groups for Fall Semester 2018
Bonita Vista High School will be launching Support Groups for Fall 2018. BVH students will have the opportunity to self-select a support group over the next few weeks through the Google link below, which will also be sent out by the administration via Jupiter Grades after Labor Day Weekend. Support groups provide a confidential place where students can share their thoughts and feelings in a safe and caring atmosphere with the goal of achieving more personal insight in order to tackle personal challenges, thus gaining more success in one’s life and in school. The purpose is to enhance coping skills, facilitate emotional well-being and social development, assist with conflict resolution, and ultimately - improve academic achievement. Groups are co-facilitated by counselors, teachers, and peer counselors. The support groups have a specific focus and offer resources for students. Groups run for six weeks, alternating between periods 2 and 6. The start date will be the last week of October and they will conclude the second week of December. Participation is entirely voluntary.

Join The Cause to Prevent Juvenile Drug Smuggling
Recently, the Institute for Public Strategies was contacted by federal agencies to partner on educating our students on the increasing juvenile drug smuggling issue. While drug smuggling might not seem like a new issue to many, there is an urgency to educate our students and their families on the danger of the drug, fentanyl, which has recently been smuggled across our borders through various means, most shockingly through our youth.
The Institute for Public Strategies along with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, will be holding a community meeting on Thursday November 15th @ 6:30 p.m. at the Chula Vista Library.Check out the documents here for more information on the event.
