Principal's Message

Hello all those Huskies!

We are celebrating all the wonderful growth we have seen and you should be excited for all the opportunities your students will have next year.

We have become an OMA School!!!!! Next year we will have Musical Theater, Guitar, Choir and will begin to build our Mariachi program. We have already hired our new Musical Theater Teacher and are planning where to host and hold the excited new performances.

Additionally, we now will host the PEEPS Program. We will have 3, 4 and 5 year old Huskies joining us. Our teacher for this program is joining us from a A+, Blue Ribbon School. She is so excited to start our program and help us grow our school. Hurry and get on the list, it is filling up fast.

Our students will be registering for their electives and classes. We now have an Honors and High School Credit Track. Get your students enrolled and ready to make their decisions. Our school needs to know how many students to staff for - so please get the registration completed.

Next year we will have Response to Intervention Teachers who will work with our GATE students and students who need remediation. This is a great addition to Safford - we want to give enrichment opportunities to our High Achievers and GATE students. We also want to support our students in need of remediation.

Thank you for allowing us to be with your students,

Dr. Katherine Kuhn, Ed.D

Principal

Staff Spotlight

This week we are celebrating Pat Ponce, our Family Liaison. Pat has been serving the Safford community for over 20 years!

She organizes family classes and parent meetings, plans amazing community events, gets families connected to resources, and so much more. Her commitment to Safford is to try and build more community involvement in Safford to connect us together. This school has so much history and has a story that not everyone knows about. So if we involve the community into the school it will flourish and if the school flourishes the students will be more successful.

Did you know we have a COMMUNITY GARDEN at Safford? That means all families and community members can participate. And we have veggies ready to be harvested. Stop by and ask for Ms. Combs if you want to try our homegrown veggies!
