Student Attendance Critical
Tardy and early release can take their toll on student learning. Students are working hard from 8-3 every day to get what they need for a year of academic progress. When a student misses even a few minutes at the beginning or end of a day they can miss critical pieces of information that assist in understanding a concept.
Missing entire days can disrupt experiences that are needed for learning. That is why the state of Texas requires that students attend school at least 90% of the school year to be considered for promotion. According to TX Education Code, a doctor's note is required if a personal absence exceeds 4 consecutive days or if a student is absent more than 8 days in a semester.
Thank you for supporting your students by valuing attendance as a critical part of learning!
