Young Authors - Primary Visit - Barbara DiLorenzo
The students enjoyed hearing about her research for the book and how she used the new knowledge to help her through the process. Her newest book, Quincy the Chameleon Who Couldn’t Blend In, shares a great message about a chameleon who is learning to embrace his uniqueness and begins to understand that blending in isn’t always the best scenario.
Barbara spoke to the students about how the idea for this story came from personal experiences and how, as a writer, using our experiences can sometimes be the best seeds for stories. http://www.barbaradilorenzo.com/

Buckingham Student Represents at the PA State Children of the American Revolution Conference
Andrew Verish recently traveled to Pittsburgh for the annual PA Children of the American Revolution State Conference to serve as State Historian and to represent his local Towamencin Society as Society President.
Over the last 3-years, Andrew has helped re-organize the Towamencin Society, growing from a handful of members to the 66-members they have today. Towamencin won the “Best Society in the State” award for the 2nd year in a row, and Andrew was awarded with the Nancy G. Burkey Most Outstanding Member award!
The weekend gave him many opportunities to speak in front of the assembly, by leading the C.A.R. Creed, giving his state and society officer reports, and made a presentation of the state scrapbook to the State President from the main platform. He also served as a Delegate to vote for the next state board of officers.
The State organization raised over $10,000 this year to fund interpretative signage at the Meadowcroft Rockshelter, the oldest native site in North America. Next year, we will be raising money to fund the Veterans Breakfast Club meetings across the state.
Towamencin is in the running for some National awards, so Andrew will be attending the National Convention in Arlington in late April, where he will also serve as a Delegate, as the National organization will be electing their new board.
Congratulations Andrew!
