Noticing how nervous their classmates were, they decided to do the Sarnoff Squeeze that is a breathing exercise they learned in TV Production to decrease nervousness. They said they were not sure if the exercise worked, but they all got a good laugh and relaxed a bit." ~ Ms. Prescott

MLK Tomorrow’s Leaders Essay Contest

The City of Jacksonville’s 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast commemorates the 93rd anniversary of Dr. King's birth by honoring his life-long commitment and achievements toward his dream for social change.


Tomorrow’s Leaders is a component of the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast that looks to recognize and award youth in our community who are exemplifying the philosophies of Dr. King through leadership, community volunteerism and civic responsibility.


The City of Jacksonville is pleased to offer the opportunity for deserving elementary, middle and high school students to be nominated for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Award. Award recipients will be recognized at the 2022 Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on Friday, January 14, 2022. For more information, please see the attachment at the bottom of the newsletter.

Tardy Policy

Please see the new tardy policy that we will begin to implement starting quarter 3. Even though we are half way through quarter 2, we have met with several students and placed them on a tardy contract for quarter 2. Also, if your child is at risk for receiving a tardy referral for quarter 2, you should received a phone call this week from Ms. Humphreys.


We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of arriving to class on time and how their tardiness can have a negative impact on their academic success.


1st through 4th Tardies:

· Students receive tardy slips.

5th Tardy:

· Parent Contact

· Restorative Practice


6th Tardy:
