Weekly Knight News
Week of 10-31-16
Tough start to November
As you heard on Friday, a former middle school student took his own life this past Thursday evening. Jacob was a very pleasant young man while at the middle school and I, like many of you, have memories of conversations with him during the school day. Keep his family and friends in your thoughts as prayers as they go through this grieving process.
Unfortunately, it takes knee jerking events like this to make us double check our procedures and practices when combating bullying and harassment within our building. Continue to report all student concerns to the office so that we can investigate. Do not brush off a student's concerns by simply saying let me know if it continues. Our students look to us for protection and need to know we are there to care for him and keep them safe.
Collaboration
Collaboration will be in departments tomorrow. Math and language arts will meet in the library with myself to discuss NWEA reports.
Parent Newsletter
I will be sending out a parent newsletter this week. If you have information that you would like for me to pass along please let me know.
eLearning
Just a reminder that students will have until Wednesday to get their elearning assignments completed for attendance purposes. Obviously they will have time after that to get it completed for a grade but for attendance purposes they need to have it completed by Wednesday.
Also, if a student attempted any part of the assignment on Friday or emailed you saying they had technology issues then that counts for their attendance. You can mark on Wednesday in Powerschool for Friday the 28th attendance.
If you're out, turn it out
Keep that saying in mind with your energy consumption. If you are out of your room, turn the lights off. Before you leave each evening take a look around and turn off power strips, TVs, monitors, etc...
