Titans United: Shining Through It All
Greetings Benefield Parents & Guardians-
It's hard to believe that it is February already! Since your child returned to school three weeks ago, things have been very busy in and around Benefield. From our Virtual Awards Ceremonies to digital learning day, to our 100 & 101 Days celebrations.
We look forward to all the great things your child will do this semester. We also look forward to partnering with you to ensure that your child is making progress towards grade level competency. One way that you can partner with us is by attending our virtual GMAS Parent Night. It will be held this Thursday starting at 7 p.m. This is a very important meeting for all parents of students in grades 3-5. More details are below. We look forward to seeing you!
Proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Stevens

Relay For Life
The Relay For Life movement is dedicated to helping communities attack cancer. Through funds donated, time given, or awareness raised, our communities are teaming up - virtually or in-person - to make a difference. When we rally together in the fight against cancer, we can accomplish anything.
Welcome to Benefield!
Please take a moment to welcome Ms. Harris as a Benefield Titan! She will be supporting our counseling team with grades 2 and 3. Read more about her below:
Counselor's Corner
Hi Titan Families! The counselors are continuing with Child Lures for all grade levels and Lifelines for 5th grade. These lessons are required and must be completed before the end of the semester.
Beginning next month in honor of Black History we’ll celebrate with a different theme each week and activities for all to participate. We encourage you and your family to get involved and to learn about an unknown figure in Black History. Here are some individuals you may not know about who contributed vastly to our society!
- Alice H. Parker
- Lonnie Johnson
- Catherine Johnson
- Henrietta Lacks
- Dr. Daniel Hale Williams
- Marie Van Brittan Brown
To help strengthen our cultural sensitivity as individuals and as school here are some activities to teach your child about diversity. Lastly, check out this Self-Love Challenge calendar that inspires you to focus on yourself and try new activities!

Family Engagement Tips
Let boredom teach time management skills
Time management is an important school skill. Learning to manage free time to avoid boredom is good practice for students. Build your child's skills by limiting recreational screen time and encouraging self-entertainment. Express confidence in your child's abilities: "I know you can think of something to do." To avoid trouble, be sure to stay aware of what your child is up to.
3-5
Keeping up with assignments adds up to math success
If your child has homework in only one subject, it's likely to be math. Math builds on itself, and students have an easier time if they stay up-to-date with assignments. Have your child read through any sample problems and explain them to you. If the sample is confusing, remind your child to ask the teacher for help the next day. On days when there is no math homework, review basic math facts together.
