A Weekly Look at Grant Elementary School & the Grant PTA

Week of April 27, 2020

A Message From Principal Grey

Dear Grant Community,

I would like to take an opportunity to appreciate all of the incredible volunteers at Grant Elementary School. This is the week that we could typically have our Volunteer Breakfast to acknowledge you and are sad to not have the chance to hold a celebration for you this year.

From spending your time in classrooms, serving on PTA, growing our garden, fundraising, organizing our auction, driving on field trips, making copies, supporting the Holiday Shoppe, organizing book bags, supporting the school play, creating our yearbook, cutting, pasting and leading art lessons, you have given your all to our school and we are forever grateful.

Your commitment to student success and our community embodies our school's vision and not a day goes by that your contributions of time and energy aren't appreciated. We love you all and cannot wait to be together again on campus. For those of you who are promoting to junior high school after this year, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your years of dedication to our school community. We will miss you and your students every day and are so grateful for our years spent together.

With Gratitude,

Amanda Grey

Congratulations, Ms. Hill!

Ms. Lee Hill will be retiring at the end of this school year after over 15 years of service in education and all of them were spent in the Petaluma City Schools District! She has taught kindergarten, third grade, and many years of first grade. Toward the start of her career, she and Ms.Reed did a job share together at McKinley School and came full circle this year to teach together again at Grant. We are so grateful to have had her as a member of the Grant community in her final year of teaching. We wish her many years of fun, adventure and joy in this next chapter of her amazing life!

Congratualtions, Ms. Reed!

Ms. Inez Reed will be retiring at the end of this school after over 25 years of service in education! She spent most of her career teaching families in the Petaluma City School District at both McKinely and Grant School. She has given so many of our youngest learners a solid foundation for success. Ms. Reed has touched the lives of so many students, families, and educators and we wish her so much joy, love, and adventure in this next chapter of her extraordinary life!

Virtual Talent Show - last call for videos!

Let's lift spirits with a virtual Grant Talent Show. With your parents permission, record a 1 minute or less video of yourself doing your talent - that could be singing, dancing, bike tricks, jumping on your trampoline, card tricks...whatever you feel like doing.

*Siblings, families and teachers can join too!

*Remember to keep the lyrics of any music tame enough for Kindergarten ears

*Videos due by May 1st

We'll put them all together and we'll have something to remember forever. I can't wait to see your videos so get busy!
