Third Grade Tribune
September 2019
Welcome back: Our Third Graders are Unique!
Our Unique Third Grade Students are working hard learning about our PAWS routine and procedures to be used throughout the year.
PAWS is an acronym for:
P - Practice safety
A - Accept responsibility
W - Work hard
S - Showing respect
Ask your child how he or she practices safety, accepts responsibility, works hard and shows respect. Everyone is doing it (especially at Chimborazo).
What happening in September?
Well, we are reading nonfiction books and articles and focusing on the main idea with supporting details. You can help by reading at home with your child and asking him/her to tell you what the main idea of the story is. Also, ask the child to find a detail in the story that supports the main idea.
We are jumping feet first into multiplication starting by making equal groups. Then understanding how repeated addition is the same thing as multiplication. In science we are learning our science process skills. Finally, in social studies we are learning maps and ancient civilizations.
The Third Grade Team is looking forward to seeing all the parents on Back To School Night on September 18, 2019.
