THINGS TO KNOW...
- Next Friday (21st) is the last day of the 9 week grading period. Please remember that report card printing... is a quick turnaround so you need to have everything ready to go - including comments added for each student.
- Yom Kippur begins at sundown Tuesday and goes through Wednesday. Please be aware of this for our students who observe.
- Have you watched all of your district required training videos this year?? If not, visit Atomic Learning and watch them ASAP!
- LEEF Grant applications are due Monday the 17th! Is there something you want? This is a great way to enhance your classroom!!
This year my clinic screening dates are all day Oct 19th & 20th. I will be utilizing the district screening team so hopefully your class will be in and out without too much class interruption. Grades to be screened are ELE, PK, KG, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and some individual students from 2nd & 4th. I will send out schedules later. - Michele
Happy Birthday to...
ATTENDANCE
You can help! One of the best ways teachers can help with attendance is to make a quick phone call when a student is absent. Checking in on how they are feeling (if sick) or to let them know they were missed, goes a long way in getting kids and parents to see the value in good attendance!
Thank you for helping!

What are the three big ideas of PLC's?
Becoming a PLC is a process; it is not a program to simpy put in place. Three guiding principles, the three big ideas, steer the process. They are:
- A focus on learning
- A collaborative culture
- A results orientation
The more a school can align its practices and procedures to these ideas, the higher the probability that it functions as a PLC, and, more important, the more its students will learn. Pg 6 of Frequently Asked Questions About PLC's at Work
Class Meetings...
Kids are so funny!!
A 2nd grade boy walked into the clinic:
boy: Can I look at your poop poster?
me: Sure, everything ok?
boy: Yes, I just want to make sure I don't have cancer.
me: You look really healthy. I'm pretty sure you don't have cancer, but let me know if you have any questions.
boy *reading poop poster intently: Why is there a fly with a heart around it on one of the poops?
me: That means that's the fly's favorite poop. It's a good poop!
boy: Why would a fly have a favorite poop?
me: Well, actually, some flies eat poop and they lay their eggs on poop. When the eggs hatch, the baby flies eat the poop and get bigger.
boy *gasps and turns to leave, smiles widely: Bye! I am going to go write about what I learned about poop!
