MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Walkersville Community,
I would like to start off with a big congratulations to Cross Country runner Kylie Schultz, who placed 23rd out of over 100 participants in the girls 2A state competition last week. Additionally, our football team is still in the playoffs and will play tonight at Milford Mill at 6:00. On Tuesday, our winter sports season kicked off with the first day of tryouts. Good luck to all of our winter athletes. As we head into next week, just a reminder that we have school Monday and Tuesday, with the remainder of the week off for Thanksgiving break. When we return, midterm is 11/30, so keep checking those grades! Enjoy the extended time with your families.
Sincerely,
Dr. Stephanie Ware
Principal

ATTENTION CURRENT JUNIORS
As you are planning your schedule for your senior year there are a couple of opportunities available:
The National Cancer Institute and USAMRIID are offering competitive internships that begin in the summer (for pay) and continue for the student’s senior year (for credit). Applications are open now and close December 16th. More information can be found at: https://ncifrederick.cancer.gov/careers/student_programs/internships/sip/HowToApply.aspx

If you are considering work study or internship your senior year and you don’t have a job - consider an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are programs that train you to become skilled in a trade or profession. You can earn and learn at the same time. There is a youth apprenticeship field trip on December 14 to meet employers looking to hire apprentices. A commitment is not required at this time - this is a meet and greet so you know what opportunities are available. A field trip permission slip is required - please see Mrs. Fogle in room 183 if you are interested.
