The attacks on 9/11 and how it started the War on Terror.
On 9/11 2001, 19 al- Qaeda militants hijacked 4 planes and carried out suicide missions against the United States. Two planes hit the World Trade Center, one plane hit the pentagon, and a fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. This was retaliation against America for supporting Israel and America's presence in the Middle East. The attacks of 9/11 claimed the lives of 2,977 people.

The War on Terror Today
Osama Bin Laden, the coordinator of the 9/11 attacks on America was killed. He was killed by a team of Navy Seals on May 02, 2011. President Obama officially removed the troops from Afghanistan. He did not establish any kind of government when he pulled the troops out. Therefore, the region plunged into chaos. A terrorist group known as "ISIS" took over. Based mainly in Syria, this organization is extremely dangerous. They have carried multiple attacks around the world and claim to have agents in the United States. The war on Terror has grown tremendously, there is not currently an end in sight.
