The Basics

Let's make this short. The few things you should know about me (a basic tl;dr):

  • Born and raised in Winter Springs, Florida, in the good ol' USA. Still living here.
  • Major: Mechanical Engineering
  • Pets: A rock

Why Engineering?

I'm not going to lie when I say that I got captivated by engineering from the show "How It's Made." Seriously, this stuff is mesmerizing. Watching this stuff in my childhood really made me think about how just about everything we see in daily life comes from a meticulously thought-out process. Here's one of my favorite episodes for your viewing pleasure.

EXCEL Involvement

Although I'm going into mechanical engineering, I only chose this major under the advice of a professional from NASA who said she was in the same exact spot as I was when she entered UCF. She advised I take mechanical engineering as it would touch base with all the other types of engineering so I can explore what I find the most interesting. I'm hoping to gain more insight into what type of career I wish to pursue in my future also. Mechanical engineering is incredibly broad, which makes it hard to pinpoint what I see myself doing for 50+ years.

In my first year of college, I believe that EXCEL is going to help point me in the right direction when it comes to understanding if I have a future in STEM or not. If so, what specifically? Not only that, but EXCEL will help me become part of a community where I am not alone in these types of decisions and dilemmas. I'm looking forward to the connections I'll hopefully make in this program.
