ALL IN for ALL STUDENTS - April 11-17, 2021
Weekly Newsletter
Parents, Guardians, and Students...Welcome!
We will highlight the weekly happenings and events at Gloria Marshall Elementary School, in Spring ISD, and in our community.
Stay in the know!
Message from Mr. Walker
Thank you for all your continued support. Marshall Spirit Night was a success due to your support. This will help us get incentives for our students as we prepare for the final push toward STAAR testing.
Last week, we won the reading competition for MyON. This week, we won first place in the Spring ISD Black History competition and we placed in an art competition. Thank you for supporting our students in this way.
We need your continued support to ensure our students are doing their best as we prepare for the end-of-year exams: Circle, TPRI, MAP, and STAAR.
With your support, we will ensure the COVID slide and the summer slide for Marshall students will be as small as possible. We are continuing to work to find every way possible to make our students successful.
Finally, remember attendance is huge in our final nine weeks. Please make sure our students are present each day and masked up!
Have a great weekend!

Give Your Child a Strong Start to a Bright Future!
Now’s the time to register for our Pre-K program if your student will be 4 or older by Sept. 1 and meets state eligibility requirements.
Spring ISD is committed to providing an excellent and engaging education to all of our youngest students with a Pre-K program designed to cultivate a love of learning that will set the foundation for success.
Our district offers caring and certified teachers who are ready to support your child as they start their educational journey. On Thursday, April 15, join us for an informational session in either Spanish or English to learn more about our Pre-K program and how your child can benefit from enrolling.
For a glimpse inside a Pre-K classroom, please watch our videos, also available in Spanish and English.
Is Your Student Registered Yet for Pre-K?
Fourth grader, Trevion Jones, won the Spring ISD Black History Oratory Competition! Trevion won the 3rd-5th grade individual category. He also won as the overall district winner for the entire district! The judges loved the authenticity of his Black Lives Matter presentation!
Kindergartner, Jacob Dean, also won a participation award. He did a presentation on the late John Lewis.
We also celebrate Mrs. Alicia Robinson, 5th grade teacher, for all of her hard work and dedication to this project.
Way to go Trevion and Jacob! We are so proud of you! #marshallstrong #marlinpride

Join Spring ISD for Week of the Young Child April 12-16
Spring ISD will be celebrating the Week of the Young Child April 12-16, where parents and their preschoolers can participate in a variety of fun learning activities to promote school readiness.
Each day of the week will feature a different virtual program, sponsored by Spring ISD Smart Start in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Parents can attend one or all of the following sessions with their child, ages 0 to 4:
Monday, April 12, 10 a.m. – Music: Music is one of the first ways children experience math, especially when children clap or move to a steady beat.
Tuesday, April 13, 6:30 p.m. – Tasty: Parents and children will learn how to make healthy snacks and practice different skills, including counting, measuring and following directions.
Wednesday, April 14, 2 p.m. – Work together: This activity will involve teamwork and games and promote social interactions, including taking turns.
Thursday, April 15, 6:30 p.m. – Artsy: Children will get to create their own unique artwork using paint, paper and a brush.
Friday, April 16, 10 a.m. – Family: A strong connection between child and parent is essential for healthy development. Take part in fun games and activities that allow the whole family to play and connect.
