Co-Curricular Corner - Music
March is not only Reading Month, but also Music in our Schools Month.
- Our second graders are celebrating how music inspires us with a performance entitled “MUSIC FOR ME”. The show will be presented on Thursday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium.
- Our 3rd and 4th graders are beginning a new unit in music about Michigan. They will be presenting the Michigan Musical on Thursday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. The students will be sharing the history of Michigan through songs and drama. It promises to be a fun learning experience for all!
- Our first graders are beginning to read music and are trying their hand at composing their own songs.
- Kindergartners are exploring the contour of melodies. One activity the students have had fun with is showing how a melody goes up and down, using a long piece of yarn.
- Our fifth graders have been preparing for their keyboard unit that will begin after Spring break. They have been learning how to read the notes in the treble and bass clef, the keys of the piano and how the piano is made. They have also learned about the great pianist and composer, Franz Liszt. The students cannot wait for keyboards to begin!
