Lost and Found
Morning Car Line ~ We Are Connected and Need Your Help
Brookwood has two different entrances. The first entrance from Brookwood Road is the bus lane. For safety reasons, please do not pull into this lane in the mornings. The second entrance (by the marque) is the car line. If you like to park and walk your child to the door, please make sure you escort them all the way into the building using the designated walk-way. You are welcome to get your hugs and kisses inside the building before you go. If you choose to walk your child into the building, please remember that when you leave you will not be allowed to back out of your parking spot until the car line is completed at 7:40 a.m. If you are unable to wait until 7:40 then please stay in the car line and drop off your children with our staff.
We have noticed that several parents have been running quite late. In order for you to get through our car line quickly and safely we are asking that you consider leaving your home 10 minutes earlier. By doing this, you will get through the car line before school begins and not risk your child being late to class. By getting to school earlier your child has an opportunity to unpack, make lunch selections and socialize with friends without being rushed straight into the school routine.
Don’t forget that Forsyth County has excellent transportation via the bus that you could also consider. Riding the bus guarantees your child is never late to school and you don’t have to mess with a long car line.
If you have any questions regarding our procedures, please contact Tracey Smith, Principal at tbsmith@forsyth.k12.ga.us.
Brookwood Elementary is Hosting it's First K-5 Science Fair
What: A school-wide science fair, open to all students. Students may enter as an individual or with a group of up to 3 students.
Who: All students who have “inquiring minds” are invited to participate.
When: Projects will be judged on January 17 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Where: Multi-Purpose Room
Why: Students will have a chance to explore science in a meaningful, challenging and fun way. Participating students learn how to identify problems and design experiments to help solve questions. Students will participate in an interview with judges to explain their process and their findings. It’s real world science!
How: Please let your homeroom teacher know you are interested and Mrs. Agramonte will have the paperwork and all directions delivered to your homeroom.
** Students will submit a written report and design and create a tri-fold display of the project. Specific guidelines will be provided.
Bonus: We will have independent judges who will determine the top two projects. Those students will be invited to represent our school at the 1st Annual K-5 Forsyth County Science Fair in February.
Read to Succeed
Read to Succeed is a free program that encourages students in grades K-5 to read for fun. Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before Friday, February 22, 2019 is eligible for a free admission ticket to Six Flags Over Georgia. Reading logs were handed out to homeroom teachers the Friday before Thanksgiving break. If you need a replacement reading log, students can ask the media center for another copy or you can print a copy from the Brookwood website under Student Services and then under Media Center. ALL completed reading logs need to be turned into Brookwood no later than February 22, 2019 to receive their free ticket. Tickets will be handed out in May before school ends. For more information go to the parent letter under the Media Center page on the Brookwood website.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Kelly Lessard, Brookwood's Media Specialist or your child's homeroom teacher.
