Concord Academy Petoskey News
October 2021
Can you believe that Fall is here already?! September has flown by! In my visits to classrooms, I see energetic staff, engaging lessons, and lots of happy students.
One of the things that I value most about Concord Academy Petoskey is the sense of community. Strong bonds between school, family, and community are the basis of that foundation and I sincerely appreciate all of the collaboration that keeps things running smoothly. What a privilege it is to be here! Many thanks in advance for your continued active engagement in your child’s learning.
Please feel free to contact me anytime by email at kmcnamara@concordpetoseky.com.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: All of our students will have a half-day of school, 11:50 am dismissal time, on Wednesday, November 10.
Conferences will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Conferences will be held virtually unless teachers receive an email/call from you requesting a phone conference instead.
Conferences are a great opportunity to talk with your child's teacher in regards to their academic progress. Our counselor, therapist, Special Education and Title One teachers are available via email should you like to speak with them.

I am really enjoying weekly visits to DK-12 classrooms. We are fortunate to be using the Character Strong curriculum-more info on this soon!
Over the last 2 weeks DK-5 we have talked about identifying feelings and learning to listen to your bodies for clues. Ask your elementary student about Listening for the Silence and belly breathing to calm down (we used a Hoberman Sphere to demonstrate).
In MS/HS we have been discussing community and expectations in a community and doing some get to know each other activities.
Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you or your students!
