SJMS Library Happenings
May 2016
Whew! April was a jam-packed month for the library! In addition to all of the School Library Month activities, we had 79 classes come through the library throughout the month for lessons, booktalks, and checkouts. We also had another 33 classes visit the book fair. We will have limited availability once SOL testing begins, but we would love to have your classes come to the library this month! Stop by the library, email us, or fill out our Google form and let us know how we can help you!
Global due date
All student library items are due on or before May 9. That gives us about a week to get in all of the overdue books and fines before SOL testing begins. Once testing begins, it will be difficult for students to clear up their library accounts. Teachers may keep any library materials for as long as you need them.
Overdue books and fines
We currently have 99 overdue books and $182.11 in library fines. These numbers will continue to grow as May 9 approaches. Flex teachers have been getting weekly email notices for students with overdue books or fines. Please pass these notices on to the students. We will also be printing notices and attaching them to interims, which go home on Friday. I know this is an extremely busy time of year, and we appreciate anything you can do to help get books and fines taken care of before the end of the year.
Bookmark winners
We had some great entries in our bookmark contest this year. We had a really hard time choosing just one winner, so we went with two instead! These bookmarks are now available in the library. Stop by and pick one up!
