PRINCIPAL'S NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS
It was wonderful seeing so many of our CSA Lincoln families at the Indiana Pacer game last night. I know it was a late night, but it was an awesome opportunity for our students to interact in an environment outside of school.
5th & 6th grade students walked over to ViewPoint Books to display their books (pictured). Polly Verbanic, BCSC School Board member, was there to help!
Happy Friday!
Mrs. Spear- Retirement
As some of you may have heard from your son or daughter, I will be retiring at the end of this school year. Much like Peyton Manning, I want to end my career on a high!
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve many children in BCSC for the past twenty-one years. When I add the years I taught in Missouri and Illinois, I have a total of twenty-five years in education. I have had many wonderful experiences and memories and many ups and downs, like all professions, but I can honestly say that I wouldn’t trade any of it! I am one of the lucky ones; I truly love my job.
One might ask, “Why now if you still love your job?” The answer is a simple one. I want to end on a good year. I have a great class and a wonderful teaching partner. I feel my years of experience have been useful with all the changes in our building this year; I feel valued for being a part of these changes and adjustments. I will have many fond memories to take with me. Obviously, I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life: spending more time with my husband (who is eight years my senior) and family (I’m a grandma now and I have Leo you know!), volunteering at CSA and supporting agencies that help children like Big Brother/Big Sister, other interests (like knitting, gardening and sewing), getting healthy and exercising more, and last but not least, traveling. It’s just simply time to move on.
Thank you for having me at CSA Lincoln. I will cherish the wonderful memories and all that we accomplished as the first Project Based Learning elementary school in the nation. I certainly felt like I was a part of something much bigger than myself!
Sincerely,
Michelle Spear
Final Four Friday
Passion: Bicycle Tour of Columbus
We expect this might be a popular Passion and wanted to give you a heads up. Below is an online permission slip that you can complete if you think your student might be interested in this Passion. I can then cross-reference this with sign-ups next week. By now, I am certain you have gathered that safety is a priority for me. We would open the Passion up to 20 students with 3 adult riders. While our goal is to use the trails as much as possible, we will be on the roads.
Recap:
- Students should be competent riding a bicycle.
- Parents will need to transport the bicycle to & from school on those Fridays.
- Bicycle helmets are required.
- Passion Dates: (4/1, 4/8, 5/6, 5/13)
- Bicycle Safety Training provided on 4/1.
- A permission slip will be required for students to participate in this Passion (online version below).
