All about the Daintree Rainforest
The Daintree Rainforest is a landscape with striking diversity. This is a tropical rainforest it is located north east coast of Queensland.It takes 29 h (2,536.7 km) to get there from Sydney and is the biggest and oldest rainforest. BUT LOOK OUT FOR SALTWATER CROCODILES!
What you would see there and do there
The Daintree Rainforest is home to over 3000 species of plants, and contains 395 species that are listed as either rare or threatened. There are 28% of frogs, 40% of birds, 34% of mammals and 65% of ferns in Australia can be found within the Daintree Rainforest. Over 12,000 types of insects make their homes within the Daintree and it is believed to be over 135 million years old! This makes it the oldest tropical lowland rainforest on Earth. The Daintree gained its official World Heritage listing back on the 9th of December, 1988. Rare animals found in the Daintree Rainforest include the White-lipped Tree Frog, the Ulysses Butterfly, the Bennett's Tree Kangaroo and the huge, colorful endangered bird species and the Cassowary. You can orient yourself at the Discovery Centre, cruise the Daintree River and explore Mossman Gorge.
