5th Grade Band Notes
Mr. Meyer's Monthly Update for Schiesher Band News
March
District 202 Band Festival - Tuesday, March 19th
Please note that we will have After-School Band rehearsal that day from 3:15-4:15 - this will be the only chance for 5th graders to get used to playing in the gym at LHS before the concert that evening.
Your son/daughter needs to be at Lisle High School at 6:30pm. Students will go to the auditorium stage where they will leave their case and coats - turn right when you walk in the main entrance, and the door to the stage is past the band room on the right. Students will assemble their instruments there and will walk down together with their instruments, stands, and music to the South Gym (straight ahead when you walk through the main doors to the school).
Since I am also leading the 6th grade band that evening, I will be warming up with them at 6:30, and Mr. Gumina will be with the 5th graders. If you are able to help supervise the 5th graders on the stage for about 20 minutes before they move to the gym, please let me know! It would really be a great help.
Students should wear dress clothes as they did for our holiday performance - any colors are fine, but please no Santa hats for this one :-)
When: Tuesday, March 19th
6:30pm students arrive, 7:00pm concert begins
Where: Lisle Senior High School - South Gym
What to Bring: Instrument, music, folding music stand (labeled with student's name)
Please plan to stay for the entire performance, and I look forward to seeing you there!
Chocolate Bunny Delivery!
Thank you for supporting the Band in our fundraising efforts - we were able to raise $1,500+!!! A special congratulations to Ms. Kayla Miller, our top seller with a whopping 81 chocolate bunnies. Wow!
The bunnies will be distributed to students immediately following After-School Band rehearsal on Tuesday, March 12th, so look for those that evening. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help!
Most of the money raised will go toward summer lesson scholarships for 5th grade band members to continue their instrumental study over the summer. Look for more info on how students can apply for those scholarships come April/May.
