Pratt's Primary Corner
Weekly Update- January 25, 2019
Week at a Glance
Math- This week we started looking at story problems involving time and mass. Students should be able to determined how much time has elapsed between the start and end of an activity. They should also be able to determine the end or start time given the elapsed time.
Writing- We've been working hard to revise our small moment stories. This week we learned about how writers can be internal storytellers (tell what's going on inside their head and heart), as well as external storytellers (tell what's happening around them). We also discussed the importance of paragraphs, and split our own stories into paragraphs.
Computer Science/Science- Students created a complete circuit using a bread board and we learned that we can trace the flow of energy in a loop. We also learned how to write conditional statements to instruct someone how to play a game. For example, "If you draw a card that is a triangle, then place a cube on a triangle." This will help students when they program their circuit next week!
Genius Hour Presentations
We will be sending permission slips for students to stay after school that day.
