General Robert E. Lee has successfully defended his capital, Richmond, VA.
George B. McClellan leading, !00,000 men, and we lost. Richmond was defended. The Confederates sent an extra 20,000 men to assist their original 65,000. Our men were defeated because they were hit by sickness and storms that blocked travel routes for supplies. General Lee tricked the Union by making an offensive move while leaving a small, fortified force behind.
