Principal's Message
Hi Sherman Families:
Today marks the official end of our "First Weeks of School." We celebrated our CORE Values at our annual Apple Core Celebration this afternoon. Our entire student population gathered on the playground in a large circle where we took some time to celebrate each of our CORE values. Staff members to part in an apple bobbing contest and to conclude the celebration, students all took a bite of an apple together. Enjoy photos from the event throughout the newsletter.
Our window to sign-up for Parent/Teacher Conferences is now open through Tuesday, October 23rd. We are scheduling Conferences again through Skyward this year. Please view our step-by-step directions below for scheduling in Skyward. Please reach out to our office, 715-852-4801, if you need assistance scheduling a conference.
Cold Weather Gear guidelines will be coming home in your student's folder today. Please review the guidelines carefully and let us know if you have any questions. If your student is need of cold weather gear, please contact the office and we can help assist you in preparing your student for the upcoming "cold weather" months.

Cold Weather Expectations
As we head further into fall playground staff will be
enforcing these expectations:
Cold Weather Gear Expectations:
If the temperature is 55 degrees or above, students can choose if they need a coat or not.
If the temperature is between 40-55 degrees, arms need to be covered (examples: jacket or coat, sweatshirt, long sleeved shirt)
If the temperature is 40 degrees and under, legs and arms need to be covered. (examples: leggings or tights, jean or pants, jacket or coat)
Winter Gear Expectations:
During the winter months K- 3 students are required to wear coats, hats, gloves/mittens, snow pants, and winter boots.
- Snow pants are optional for 4th and 5th graders. Coats, hats, gloves/mittens, and winter boots are required.Those who choose not to wear snow pants and winter boots must remain on the shoveled blacktop area.
RCU School $ense
Starting October 18, RCU School $ense will be open at Sherman every Thursday during lunch! Student team members from Grade 5 have been hired and trained to help young savers with their deposits.
If my child already has a RCU account, how can they start saving with School $ense?
- Good news – your student is ready to save at school! Just email us at schoolsense@rcu.org with your student’s full name, teacher, and grade. We will deliver a new pouch to them at school.

Sherman Spooktacular Festival
Friday, October 19, from 4-6PM.
All students and their families are welcomed to dress up.
The Spooktacular Festival, sponsored by the Sherman Steering Committee,
provide fun activities for our Sherman Stars.
*Dancing,Pumpkin Decorating, and many other fun activities
*Snacks & Bottled Water available
Volunteers Needed
There are still volunteer opportunities at the following events:
Spooktacular Festival: Friday, October 19.
5:30-7:00 pm or 7:00--8:00 pm (2 SPOTS LEFT)
Schlastic Bookfair: Thursday, October 25.
2 hours shifts between 2:00 pm-8:00 pm (4 SPOTS LEFT)
