Dear Families and Friends of the Hollys,
As an educator with multiple veterans in my family, teaching students about Veterans Day is very important to me! I want students to understand the true meaning of this holiday, which honors military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Our veterans have defined patriotism throughout history. Students and staff will explore and learn about this holiday and the courageous veterans of our community who possess strong beliefs in truth, justice and freedom.
Due to the pandemic, we are unable to host our annual Veterans Day Assembly. This year, the students and staff will collaborate on a video to educate and celebrate Veterans Day. We will share and post our video creation on Veterans Day, November 11, 2020. As part of our video, we wish to honor friends and family members of the Hollys who have served our country in one of the many branches of the armed services. We invite you to send information about a veteran family member or friend by Friday, October 30.
Families can submit information in a variety of ways. You can use the form below and send in a hard copy image and information about your Veteran. Students can also obtain hard copies of this form in the front office. The bottom of the form may be used to add information about the veteran such as special accomplishments and recognitions, years of service, and/or it may be used for the child to add why he/she is so proud of this person.
Families can also send images and information via e-mail to me directly in a different format mdrvenkar2@cherrycreekschools.org. Families can create their own poster, art piece or picture collage to honor their veteran. All submissions will be returned once our video is complete.
We look forward to honoring your family members and friends in our Hollys’ Veterans Day video. Thank you for participating in this special tribute.
Together in education,
Molly Drvenkar

Dear Cherry Creek Schools Community,
Food and Nutrition Services has some very exciting news! Thanks to extended funding from the USDA, we are able to offer FREE meals – breakfast and lunch – to ALL students through December 2020! Per USDA guidelines, qualifying meals must include 3 of the 5 meal components – Meat/Meat Alternate, Grain/Bread, Fruit, Vegetable, and Milk – one of which must be a fruit or vegetable. Additional meals (i.e. extra slice of pizza, or extra entrée) or a la carte (snack) items, are not covered by the USDA and therefore must be purchased at cost.
Although meals are free, we encourage families to still fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Application for the 2020-21 school year if they haven’t done so already. This ensures these benefits continue in January 2021 and enables CCSD to receive all possible school funding. The meal application can be found on family.titank12.com.
I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that should your student’s class be quarantined at any point during the school year, they can come by any Cherry Creek Middle School location on Monday between 7:15 – 8:30 am and 11 – 12:30 pm to pick up 5 full days of meals to eat while they learn at home. Definitely keep this in mind as a resource in the event of a quarantine.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns and we will be happy to assist.
We cannot thank you enough for supporting our amazing meal program!
Take good care,
Kim Kilgore RD, SNS
