Monthly Character Trait of January: Self-Discipline

Self-Discipline: ability to make right choices with words and actions without being told.

Salem students are encouraged during this month to learn about self-discipline. Especially after having a long break from school, it is more challenging to practice self-discipline so please help your child to develop this essential trait at home by discussing about the word self-discipline and by reading some of the books listed below.

If you need to borrow any of these books from Ms. Min, please let me know. My contact information is at the bottom.

Salamander Time

This is a time for upper grade students to work with Green Hope High School National Honor Society members. As of now, we have 5th grade students who are able to take advantage of this opportunity from 3:00 to 3:40 on Monday and Wednesday. Tutors work with our students on various tasks.

Mindset Matters

Big image

I recently purchased a book called Mindset Matters and it is about helping students to have growth mindset through mastering the skills that you see above. This curriculum will be used for 8 weeks and I have asked all 2nd-5th grade teachers to make their recommendations. If you have questions about the small group, please contact me!
