Monthly Character Trait of January: Self-Discipline
Self-Discipline: ability to make right choices with words and actions without being told.
Salem students are encouraged during this month to learn about self-discipline. Especially after having a long break from school, it is more challenging to practice self-discipline so please help your child to develop this essential trait at home by discussing about the word self-discipline and by reading some of the books listed below.

Mindset Matters
I recently purchased a book called Mindset Matters and it is about helping students to have growth mindset through mastering the skills that you see above. This curriculum will be used for 8 weeks and I have asked all 2nd-5th grade teachers to make their recommendations. If you have questions about the small group, please contact me!
